The Bob's Red Mill team went to Scotland to compete in the Olympics of oatmeal, the Annual Golden Spurtle World Porridge Making Championship. For the first time in the competition's history, it was won by oatmeal from outside of Scotland by Bob's Red Mill Steel Cut Oats ? the very same whole grain oats that are in this bag.
Suggested Use
Keeps best refrigerated or frozen
Bring 3 cups water and 1/4 tsp. salt to a boil and add 1 cup Bob's Red Mill Steel Cut Oats. Reduce to a low simmer. Cover and cook 10-20 minutes (depending on how chewy you like your cereal). Stir occasionally. Remove from heat and let stand covered for a couple of minutes. Serves four.
Serving Suggestions
- Serve with milk, cream or a pat of batter.
- Add brown sugar, honey, or maple syrup for sweetness.
- Add fresh or dried fruit, raisins, nuts, or a dash of cinnamon.
