Professional and home bakers have, for many years, added Pumpernickel Dark Rye Meal to their Rye breads. Rye meal greatly enhances the texture and flavor of your favorite rye breads. Pumpernickel Meal makes a great addition to any bread recipe and can even be cooked as a hot breakfast cereal.
When we developed this recipe at the mill and baked up the first few batches, the response was phenomenal. The flavor and texture were far superior to any commercial brand cracker and of us had ever tasted. You will love these crackers.

Suggested Use
Pumpernickel Rye Crackers
- 1/2 cup Unbleached White Flour
- 1/2 cup Organic Pumpernickel Dark Rye Meal
- 1/2 tsp. Salt
- 1 Tbsp. Sugar
- 1 tsp. Baking Powder
- 2 tsp. Caraway Seeds
- 4 Tbsp. Margarine
- 3 Tbsp. Milk
Mix together dry ingredients and seeds. Work in margarine until fine. Stir in milk. Form the dough into ball and roll out to 1/8-1/6" between waxed paper. Cut into desired shapes, prick with fork and transfer to ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400�F for 5-6 minutes until lightly brown on edges. Cool on rack. Store in airtight container.
