What is Black Walnut?
Black walnut (Juglans nigra) is a large, highly prized, fruit-bearing tree, well known for its heavy, dark, purplish-brown wood. Its native to North America and grows throughout eastern U.S. and Canada. Black walnut trees produce small, flavorful nuts encased in thick, hard, green hulls which are notoriously difficult to break open. The nuts have a strong, smoky flavor and the hulls contain juglone, tannins and quinone compounds which help protect the tree from environmental influences.

Suggested use
